Campaigning for better bus services
May 23rd, 2008 | by martin.rhodes |Maryhill MSP, Patricia Ferguson has welcomed further improvements to local bus services, with the introduction of a direct bus service to Stobhill Hospital and the provision of two new bus stops along the route. She has been campaigning for better bus services in her Maryhill constituency and earlier this year she welcomed the introduction of a direct bus service between Ruchill and Glasgow City Centre. The extension of the service 29 to Stobhill Hospital via High Possil is a further response to calls made by Ms Ferguson and local residents. Following the extension of the number 29 service Patricia Ferguson, in response to requests from constituents, asked First Bus to consider providing additional bus stops outside the Marie Curie Centre on Balgrayhill and at Liddesdale Square/Liddesdale Road in Milton. These bus stops have now been put in place.
Patricia Ferguson commented: “I launched my campaign for better buses to make sure that people in the communities of Maryhill could get better access by public transport to health facilities, to their workplace and to shopping facilities. These recent changes are a welcome move in this direction. I know that there are still issues that need to be addressed and I would encourage all constituents to continue to make me aware of any problems with bus services in their local area.”
